Anyway, in it the poster reverse engineered a good approximation of the pricing formula for items using tier 1,2 and 3 items as his baseline for which rarer items are more valuable than their power cost.
Here is a breakdown of what he found:
1 power is roughly 1.5 armor
5 power is roughly 1 stat point
% dodge is about 21 power
% critical is about 18 power
% hit is about 14 power
(1-3) damage is approximately 11 power
An increase in minimum damage by 10% is worth an extra 8% power
Anyway, I used this guideline to look mostly at my epic armor and found that most epic gear should be from 1.15 to 1.25 times more costly in terms of power consumption. But I did notice a couple of exceptions.
Items of Awesome:
Akathaari Recluse Web Cloak
Power rating: 47
Back
169 Armor
+3 Speed
+2 Perception
Power for armor: 113
Power for stats: 25
138/47 = 2.9 expected power to actual cost ratio!!!!
That's right, this item should cost 138 power, nearly three times what it actually does cost. Best cost to value I've found on any item of any tier so far, the only drawback being that you can't wear 10 of these (actually nine of these since you would want something big to spend all the power you saved in your last slot).
Belted Breeches of the Rising Sun
Power rating: 257
Legs
240 Armor
+10 Speed
+20 Perception
+10 Stamina
+5 Resist
160 power for armor
225 power for stats
385/257 = 1.5 cost to power ratio
This is better ratio than the Jaded Dragon breeches (1.35 for JDB) or most legendaries for that matter. I don't know why more people don't pick these up.
Items of suck:
Elemental Mantle
Power Rating: 243
Shoulders
160 Armor
+3% Dodge
+3% Critical
+3% Hit
107 power for armor
63 power for dodge
54 power for critical
42 power for hit
266/243 = 1.09
Elemental Mantle should actually be a rare and not epic based on its power costing. It still might be useful, but you can probably do better getting the benefits off other epic armor if possible.
Anyway, I'd like to hear what other people have found in terms of undercosted or overcosted items.
